Juro Fándly (21. 10. 1750 – 7. 3. 1811)

leading representative Bernolak movement, founding member of the Slovak Learned Society, priest, writer, poet, historical, popularizer of Health Sciences, manager, beekeeper, political, promoter and disseminator first codified Slovak language.

Juro was born Fándly 21. 10. 1750 in Casta, but his parents came from Dolian, where they later lived and where the Fándly the end of his life back. He educated in several monastic schools and in 1777 He was ordained a priest. at longest, for a year 1780 until early retirement in 1807, he worked in the parish Bathers. The last four years of his life lived on his parents' property in Dolan, where he died 7. 3. 1811.

During his tenure at Bathers actively involved in national-revivalist movement Slovaks, not only as a founding member and officer of a major Slovak Learned Society, but as perhaps the most important Slovak writer of his time. His first work was a confidential agreement between the monks and the devil, which was published in 1789.

It's the first work written in Slovak codified English, so. Bernolak. In the following years he published other works mainly in the field of education of farmers (Domajší diligently and field manager in four volumes, Eel and bees, Slovak beekeeper and more), history (Compendiata Historia Gentis Slavae - Short history of the Slovak nation) and religion (Events and saint sermons in two volumes, Daily meditation on death and more). Many of his works did not work and the press remained in manuscript.
